With a 20,000mAh of power capacity, the PowerAdd Pilot X7 will allow you to recharge an iPhone, Samsung or any other smartphone about 6-8 times. Long gone are the days where your power bank runs out of juice halfway through a busy day or when you are on a plane. This will give you plenty of battery life while on a flight, road trip, outdoor camping, hiking or anything that requires high-intensity use of your mobile device.
The unit provides two USB ports for charging two devices at the same time plus A micro-USB Input port that can be found on the long side of the charger. While charging two devices at the same time, one port will output 2.1 amps of power while the other one will output 1 amp. The only practical difference is that one device will charge quicker than the other one, but it is important to bear in mind so you don’t assume the unit is malfunctioning.
Tapping the power button will show you four blue LEDs showing you how much power you got left. It is a simple and reliable way to check if your unit needs recharging. We recommend that you use a 2 amp USB charger with this unit like those you get with an iPad or Tablet. You need to remember you are recharging a 20,000mAh, something like 8 mobile phones, so a 2 amp charger is ideal. If you don’t have one, we recommend the RAVPower 30W Fast 6A – 3 port charger or similar. It will take around 11-12 hours to fully charge, Use a traditional 1 amp mobile device charger unit and you are looking at around 24 hours for a full recharge.
The Pilot X7 has a small LED light at the front that can be used as a flashlight by simply holding down the power button. This is not going to floodlight by a long margin, it is simply a small light source for when you need to find keys or small items in your bag. It will definitely help you find your way if your Pokemon hunts take you to dusk.
The only downside we see in this unit is that given the power storage, it is a little bulky, which is to be expected. It might not be something you carry in your jeans pockets. Overall, this power bank performs well and provides a reliable charge when you need it. Perfect for stowing away in your rucksack, laptop bag or any other carry bag.
