The EC Technology 22400mAh Power Bank is an ideal purchase for power users with multiple devices to charge. Its rugged, no-nonsense aesthetics will appeal to some, but not to all. For the money, you’ll get solid construction, three USB output ports and charge times which are quite good for a power bank of this capacity. Keep in mind, buying a quick charge wall charger will speed those charge times up considerably. All in all this a really well built, good value power bank from EC Technology.

Boasting three USB output ports – this beast packs a huge amount of power into its solidly built chassis. If you are looking to upgrade your power bank unit, this unit is of solid construction, really good value and high power capacity making it a power bank well worth considering.
The EC Technology 22400mAh Power Bank doesn’t disappoint. They have certainly managed to cram a whole lot of raw power into this portable unit. The 22400mAh capacity is enough to recharge the current roster of smartphones for up to eight times!
One of our favourite features of the EC Technology 22400mAh Power Bank is the fact that it provides you with three separate USB output ports. This is a great feature for heavy users with multiple devices. It not only means that you can simultaneously charge your electronics when you can’t get to a wall socket but also your friend’s. This is the perfect device for a long haul flight, a road trip, or hours of social media and youtube videos.
The three output ports are rated at 1A for iPhone, 2A for Samsung Tab and 2.4A for iPad. (Each port is labelled). EC Technology 22400mAh comes with AUTO-IC technology, which will automatically recognize what type of device you have plugged in to charge, and deliver the fastest, safest, most efficient current for that device. And with over-charge, over-voltage, over-current and short-circuit protection built-in, you can rest assured that your expensive electronics are in safe hands.
The EC Technology 22400mAh Power Bank has a single DC 5V 2A input port for recharging the device. Charge times are pleasingly quick, although keep in mind the battery is huge – so don’t expect miracles! We’d certainly recommend purchasing a 2 amp quick charge wall charger such as the Aukey Quick Charge 2.0 Wall Charger or similar for faster charging times.
This will see your recharge times reduce considerably but make no mistakes, there is no getting away from an 11-12 hour recharge time (providing you use a 2amp charger) if you run this monster flat (22-24 hour with a standard 1amp charger).
The EC Technology 22400mAh Power Bank has a smart rugged look. The unit is easy to hold due to its rounded edges, the plastic body feels solid and well-constructed which makes it easy to hold and avoids the unit from slipping through your fingers. The device comes in three available colours. We tested the black and red model but all coloured models have the same spec.
On the top side of the device along with the EC Technology logo, you will find four LED power lights to indicate the current charge level. At the bottom end, there are the three USB output ports, each labelled for its intended device (iPhone, Samsung tab and iPad). Just above the USB output ports is a small flashlight which is reasonably bright and could be a welcome feature for some users. Simply hold down the power button and it will come on. The unit also has a micro-USB input port for charging the unit up.
The EC Technology 22400mAh Power Bank feels well-constructed and rugged. The plastic body feels rugged and solidly fit, with a polish finish. The ports seem well made, as plugging and unplugging cables was smooth and easy every time.
The only drawback we found is with the location of the on/off button. It is on one of the sides and it can be accidentally turned on or off if you carry it loose inside a bag. Worth bearing this in mind although in general terms we didn’t find it a deal breaker.
Conclusion
We won’t sugar coat it, the EC Technology 22400mAh Power Bank is not lightweight. Weighing in at 1 pound (453g), it is certainly towards the heavier end of the ~20000mAh power bank market. We’d certainly rate this as a heavyweight, but then again, that’s to be expected at this power level.
Whilst it is not the lightest power bank in this power category we feel that is offset by its solid build and rugged construction. It is however not nearly as big as some of its competitors. At 0.9 inches (22.86mm) high it has a very flat profile, with a length of 6.3 inches (160mm) and a width of 3.1 inches (78.7mm). The slim profile makes it easy to fit into a laptop bag or rucksack.
