This simple all-black machine has an Auto-Start, Reverse, and Auto-Off setting to control the operation. Located at the top part are the feed slot and a disc slot that is protected by a plastic cover where you can access by pushing the button named Jam Remover/CD Destroyer. Also, instead of putting a window on the front, this one has a large notch cut out on the upper left of the lid to easily see if the bin is full. Just simply lift the lid to empty and clean the wastebasket.

Operation

Performance
We tried shredding documents using the AmazonBasics 8-Sheet Strip-Cut paper shredder and putting the pieces together. Honestly, we expected it to be easy since the shredded pieces are bigger compared to cross-cut and micro-cut shredding. But, reconstructing the strips took us quite some time and had a little trouble with text that includes photos, barcode, and QR code. As per operation, it runs continuously for 2 minutes followed by 15 minutes of cool time, which is ideal for light-duty use. Although it has a limitation of 8 sheets per pass, we tried more than 8 and it jammed on its halfway through. Then, we inserted one paper at a time and it shows a speed of up to 14.6 feet per minute. And when it comes to shredding disc and credit cards, well, the pieces are still large enough to read the private details. The only remedy that we can see is to cut it again using a pair of scissors, hence use a different shredder.
In terms of the waste bin’s size, the AmazonBasics 8-Sheet Strip-Cut paper shredder has one of the smallest that we have tested so far. It fills up quickly after about 30 sheets and results in paper jamming. So we switch the slider to Reverse and thankfully, removing the papers is pretty easy. On the other hand, this might be a small machine but it operates noisily at 70 dB. The sound is highly pitched and distracting to anyone who’s in the same room.
