Design

On top of the design, the SnapMaker 2.0 A350 3D printer is made as a smart and wise device. Each metal on its solid and large H-frame contains all the electronics and movable parts. Moving from one function to another might be hard work and could take around 20 minutes, but everything goes through a control box to make it a little bit easier. Setup

The initial setup process takes an hour to build, but changing the function, it can be done in 20 minutes. But there is no need to worry because the steps are clear and straightforward. Moreover, there are available tutorial videos you can use to make the entire process easier.

General Initial Setup

  1. Connect the feet to the base plate and make sure that the sliders are parallel with each other by moving them to the same position.
  2. Attach the platform to the Y axes then to the base plate and tighten the screws on the Y-axis sliders. 
  3. Same with the Z-axis, attach it to the base plate as well as the touchscreen holder.
  4. Insert the connecting cables through the holes of the holder. Then attach the Z axes to the Z-axis holder and install the screws at the bottom of Z axes. Move the platform and the Z-axis slider to the lowest possible position.
  5. Fasten the X-axis to the sliders on the Z axes and tighten the screws at the bottom of Z axes. Then, move the X-axis to the top.
  6. Look for the Y conversion cable and Y-axis connection cables, attach to the converter, and the base plate.
  7. Do the same thing with the Z conversion cable and Z-axis connecting cables and attach them to the converter, then to the base plate.
  8. Get the controller and attach it to the Z-axis, then open the plugs and attach the X, Y, and Z-axis to the controller.
  9. Next, attach the touchscreen to the controller.
  10. Lastly, connect the cables to the power module.

3D Printing Initial Setup

  1. Attach the 3D printing module to the X-axis slider, then to the controller.
  2. Place the filament holder to the Z-axis, also the heated bed to the platform, and put the print sheet. 
  3. Connect the heated print bed to the controller, then attach the cable holder to the Z-axis and lock the tool head cable into position.
  4. Plug the power cable into an outlet, turn on the switch, and follow the steps on the touchscreen.
  5. Run automatic bed levelling on the touchscreen. Place a calibration card or piece of paper, preferably A4 size, between the nozzle and print bed.
  6. Calibrate the Z offset by adjusting the nozzle height using the up and down buttons. 
  7. When there is a slight resistance upon pulling the card or paper, save the calibration setting by tapping the Save button on the touchscreen.
  8. To load the filament, place the material over the filament holder, cut the end, and insert it to the 3D printing module.
  9. Press the start on the load filament screen. When the temperature is right, tap the load button and lightly push the filament into the 3D printing module.
  10. Clean the nozzle, then press the done button.

Laser Engraving and Cutting Initial Setup

  1. Connect the laser module into the X-axis slider, then to the controller.
  2. Attach the laser engraving and cutting platform to the platform, the cable holder to the Z-axis, and lock the tool head in place.
  3. Plug the power cable to an outlet, turn on the switch, and follow the steps on the touchscreen.
  4. Measure the focal length by placing the material on the laser engraving/cutting platform then fix using the silicone plugs. 
  5. Set the material thickness to 1.5 mm.
  6. Move the laser module by tapping X-, X+, Y-, Y+, Z-, and Z+. When the shade almost touches the surface of the material press the next button. Make sure to wear protective goggles before setting up the machine.
  7. Tap X-, X+, Y-, Y+ to go back to its original position then press set work origin and run boundary. If the position is incorrect, just repeat the step.
  8. Press the start button to begin an autofocus procedure.
  9. Calibrate the camera by removing engraved material and place a piece of blank white paper on the center of the laser engraving/cutting platform, then tap start.
  10. Remove the engraved material then place another material on the center of the platform.

CNC Carving Initial Setup

  1. Connect the CNC module into the X-axis slider, then to the controller. Attach the CNC carving platform to the machine platform, then the cable holder to the Z-axis, and lock the tool head in place.
  2. Plug the power cable into an outlet, turn on the switch, and follow the steps on the touchscreen.
  3. Place the material on the center of the CNC carving platform. Fasten the clamp set to the CNC carving platform and position the material by screwing the wing nuts. 
  4. Insert the ER11 collet to the ER11 nut properly. Wear safety goggles, insert the CNC bit to the ER11 collet, and make sure that the CNC bit’s end is parallel to the ER11 collet’s edge.
  5. Screw the unit to the shank and tighten the ER11 nut completely.
