Traditionally, carrying our babies close to our bodies is a way of building our relationship, showing our love, and gaining their trust. Also, we do this to help them sleep well, take them outside, or breastfeed. But when the evolution of prams and strollers occurred in the 19th century, carrying babies has been taken for granted. Many parents have relied on these things and distance themselves from getting physically close to their babies. Fortunately, in the 1970s and 1960s, baby carriers, like the Didymos woven baby wrap, introduces new ways and benefits of babywearing.
Babywearing makes parenting a lot easier. Carriers give the support and comfort that our dear babies need to promote their growth and development. In fact, studies have shown that the more we hold our babies, the less they cry and fuss. Now, we don’t need to put our baby to sleep just to do our household chores, take short trips outside, or work. Multitasking with our babies on board is now made possible with Didymos woven baby wraps.
Overview
Choosing between a woven or stretchy wrap is quite tricky because both work excellently. Woven and stretch wraps are a piece of fabric that has no buckles, belts, or rings attached. But woven wraps are more supportive and firmer to carry bigger and heavier babies. With the proper way of wrapping the fabric, it can fit our bodies and the baby perfectly. And since this long fabric has no structure, this makes baby wraps so versatile because we can create different carrying positions. Although we should expect that the learning curve will not be easy. It can be intimidating at first but through several practices, we will be able to perfect its method.

Procedure
All Didymos products come with a booklet and DVD that contains detailed instructions for different carrying positions and offers a 3-year warranty. Being in the industry of carriers for over 40 years, the physical and emotional needs of babies has been their expertise. With their baby wraps, rest assured that the baby’s leg and back are fully supported. Also, the manufacturer created carrying positions that are easy and quick to use, and here’s how to do it.
- To make a front wrap cross carry, first, find the middle marker. Bring the right end of the baby wrap behind your back and over your left shoulder. Then do the same thing on the other side.
- Tightens the ends of the baby wrap. The wrap should form an “X” on your back. Make sure the fabric is evenly stretched out and not twisted.
- Put the baby on your shoulder and use your hand to carefully put both legs of the baby into the baby wrap pocket. Straighten the fabric from the baby’s knees to their neck. Hide the excess fabric between you and the child. Tightens the ends of the wrap one by one.
- Bring both ends of the baby wrap crosswise under the baby’s knees and pull them behind your back. Then, tie the ends of the baby wrap on a double knot behind your back or in front, depending on the remaining fabric.
- Straighten the fabric on the internal cross on the child’s back from knee to knee. Then do the other side of the cross as well.
Performance
From the design to the fabric materials, we can say that Didymos woven baby wraps are done elegantly beautiful. Made of 100% organic cotton, we are amazed at how soft and comfortable it feels even if it’s a bit thicker than stretchy wraps. The combination of fabrics is truly exceptional like when they blend the cotton with silk and linen, it gives us a luxurious feel. We are so in love with the colors and patterns that make it challenging for us to choose what to buy and wear. Mosaic, Aztec, Stripe, Ocean, Jade, and Chili are some of the gorgeous designs of Didymos.
Woven wraps are known for versatility because it is moldable and strong enough to support our babies from newborns to preschoolers that are on the heavy side. Didymos has a special sizing system that is from size 2 to 8. For an average size woman, the size 6 fits perfectly. While for petite, size 5 is great, and for plus size mommies out there, 7 or 8 is more suitable. On the other hand, sizes 2, 3, and 4 are for shorter baby wraps. This is good if we prefer simple wraps and knots to avoid having excess hanging fabrics. Another thing we like about Didymos woven baby wraps is we can easily convert them to ring slings. All we need is a pair of rings, no sewing needed.
Just a reminder for first-time users, please know the fabric used for Didymos woven baby wraps will slightly shrink after wash. Frequent usage and washing tend to soften and bind the fibres together. Well, it is not something new for baby wraps, so we suggest that you pick one size up from your normal size.
