Summary
We recommend the Owlet Sock as a complement to an existing audio and video monitor. It’s great, even probably essential in some cases, but not sufficient for the majority of parents. The Owlet is very helpful if you have reasons to be worried about your baby’s heartbeat or oxygen level. But as a standalone monitor, it lacks some of the basic features that a video monitor provides, such as making sure that your baby isn’t jumping out of bed or crying through the night. With a video monitor and this movement monitor, you’d get a complete peace-of-mind system.

( votes)Owlet Smart Sock Baby Monitor
For any parent, the safety of their children throughout the night is always a concern. Whether you’re the proud new parent of your first child or you’re a veteran parent, this is a fear that never goes away as long as you have a baby in the house. This one-of-a-kind baby monitor helps you watch over your baby while they sleep. Most baby monitors will only alert you if your child wakes up and is crying during the night. This monitor sensor, however, measures your baby’s heart rate and O2 levels.
By using clinically-proven pulse oximetry technology, THE Owlet Smart Sock Baby Monitor alerts you with sounds, lights, and smartphone notifications if these vital readings exceed or drop below normal levels. When everything’s normal, the bedside base station glows with a steady green light. The Owlet Smart Sock 2 Baby Monitor has a wrap-over design and it fits snugly over your baby’s foot, just like a normal sock would. It is completely wireless, so there’s no way your baby can get tangled up in cords while they sleep. Each unit includes 3 washable socks that connect to a base station up to 100ft away using wireless technology. The socks fit most infants from 0 – 18 months or 6 – 25 pounds.
The socks should be hand washed regularly and alternated from right to left foot each night it’s used. These socks are BPA-free, latex-free, and lead-free, making them completely safe for an infant. Your little one will be comfortable as they sleep, and parents can sleep better and have less anxiety knowing their baby is safe and sound.
How it works
The Owlet Smart Sock Baby Monitor can be worn on either foot. It sends notifications to your Owlet base station and your device via the free downloadable app, so you can check up on your baby at any time, without waking them. The Owlet lets you know if the baby is wriggling and momentarily pauses information to ensure the readings you receive are always accurate. The base station glows different colours to notify you to what’s going on – a green glow means all is good! I have found the comforting green glow instantly reassuring when I wake during the night while my baby is sleeping.
The base station flashes yellow to tell you the Smart Sock has fallen off, it flashes when the sock is disconnected from the base station, and it flashes red to tell you that your baby’s heart rate or oxygen levels are out of the preset zones to prompt you to take further action. The Smart Sock plugs into the base station which is popped on charge during the day ready for bedtime. All in all, it really is a fantastic way to monitor your baby.
